'Laws of the Mind'

UNIVERSAL LAWS:
THE MENTAL LAWS
PERSONALITY FUNCTION:  The Mind
PERSONALITY CYCLE:  Mental Cycle

ELEMENT: Air

The laws of the mind govern thought processes, perception, cognition and all that relates to the mind and how we think.

THE LAW OF SUBSTITUTION

The Law of Substitution means that to stop thinking a particular thought, we have to replace one line of thought with another. If we are thinking about something in particular but wish to stop thinking it, then we can only do this by switching our attention to something else. Focusing on a different subject diverts the mind and makes it forget the original subject of its attention.

THE LAW OF RELAXATION

The more the mind is relaxed the easier it is to think. Trying too hard to think about something can cause tension and stress. The secret is to take a deep breath and relax. Meditate and calm the mind to think clearly and allow the subconscious to bring vision and insight.

THE LAW OF SUBCONSCIOUS ACTIVITY

When we have thought something through and decided to act upon it, our subconscious will then set about doing everything that it can to make it happen. It will use the Universal Laws to arrange situations, meet people and remind us what knowledge, information and skills we need to make it happen.

THE LAW OF PRACTICE

The more we practice something the better we become at it. This is true for anything in life. The more we do something, the easier it is and the quicker and more efficient we are. It is said that something has to be practiced 10000 times before it can be said that you have truly have mastered it!

THE LAW OF TWO FACTORS

A thought is made up of two factors, knowledge and feeling. Knowledge provides the information to allow us to assess something in a factual way and feeling allows us to put value to the thought, which may or may not then provoke an emotional response and subsequent action.

THE LAW OF FORGIVENESS

It is important to forgive people to find peace of mind. Forgiveness is one of the greatest things we can do, not just for other people but for ourselves as well. An unforgiving attitude means we carry strong, negative emotions around with us. This will inevitably create negative energy and actions, taking us further away from our good self and creating bad Karma. Much of the time, things are rarely as they seem in life so who are we to judge another without the full facts. We don’t know what has happened to the other person in their own life to make them act the way they have. If you cannot forgive someone, you will never be able to forgive yourself when it is your turn to make a mistake. Some things are said and done that are hard to forgive and forget, but unless negative emotion is released and replaced with understanding and compassion, it will hold back our spiritual development.

THE LAW OF CAUSE AND EFFECT

Every cause has an effect, every action has a reaction, what you give is what you get. All things begin as a thought in the mind, this is the cause. How we feel about the thought, causes an emotion and an emotional response will follow if the emotion is strong enough. The emotional response prompts us to take action. The end result of the action is the effect.

THE LAW OF FREEWILL

The only person in your mind is you. No one else can think your thoughts or make up your mind for you and no one else can know what you are really thinking unless you tell them. You can make up your own mind on what you choose to do or what you wish to focus your attention on. In the end, we alone are responsible for our own decisions and actions, no-one else.

THE LAW OF FOCUS

What we focus our attention on is where we direct our energy to and the subject of our focus will grow. This could be anything from a project we may be working on, to a grievance about something, to a pain in our body that seems to get worse the more we think about it.

THE LAW OF INDIVIDUALISATION

Everyone has their own view of what they think the World around them looks like and what it means to them. From birth, our mind and personality are conditioned by factors such as the social environment we are born into, parents who guide us, teachers and social media. Everyone has had their own unique life experience which has shaped the way they see reality. If you are unhappy with life then seek new experiences to change the view.

THE LAW OF CREATION

The Law of Creation is similar to the Law of Focus. When you think about something and decide to take action, the energy directed into the action will create and build the experience.

THE LAW OF EMOTION

An emotion is always preceded by a thought. No emotion can appear without first having a thought and a feeling.

THE LAW OF MENTAL EQUIVALENTS

Before you can experience something you must have the mental equivalent in your mind. You have to visualize and build a picture of what you want to make it happen.

THE LAW OF MANIFESTATION

Following on from the Law of Mental Equivalents, to manifest something into your life, you first have to visualize what it is that you want to make happen. When you believe in what you are doing, the subconscious will take steps to put the vision into motion, producing the actions necessary to make it a reality.
